KUCHING (Dec 5): The Ministry of Transport Sarawak (MOTS) has called on its workforce to strengthen technological capabilities, emphasising the need for continuous learning and digital competency to meet future challenges.

Speaking at the ministry’s Appreciation Dinner and Service Recognition Ceremony here on Thursday, Minister Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin emphasised that the evolving transport sector requires officers to remain adaptable and bold in exploring innovative approaches.

“I urge all MOTS personnel to continue undergoing training, enhance your knowledge, and master new skills in the fields of technology and AI.

“The challenges of the future are very different from those of the past; to remain relevant and competitive, we must be prepared to learn, adapt, and be bold in trying new methods,” he said.

He also highlighted the pivotal role of young officers in the ministry’s transformation.

“Your energy, ideas, and digital mindset are the engine of future change in Sarawak’s transportation sector,” he noted.

During the event, Lee thanked all personnel for their dedication and commitment.

“Congratulations to all recipients of the Service Excellence Award (APC). You have proven that excellence is not merely a target, but a work culture that is embraced.

“I would also like to extend my appreciation and thanks to those who are retiring,” he said.

The ceremony celebrated six recipients of the APC: Keron Mapus, Hajiah Idris, Noraina Rahim, Sanisah Ahmad Safree, Ubong Sigau, and Jamilah Muni.

Additionally, the ministry also honoured deputy permanent secretary Selamat Jati Yanjah and administrative assistant (clerical/operations) Abdul Aziz Haili who are concluding their service this year.

Among those present were deputy ministers Datuk Dr Jerip Susil and Datuk Henry Harry Jinep, as well as permanent secretary Datu Wong Hee Sieng.
