KUCHING (Dec 10): The launch of AirBorneo’s official website marks a significant step towards the airline’s operational readiness, says Transport Minister Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin.

In welcoming AirBorneo’s announcement that its official website would go live today, Lee said he was encouraged to see the airline entering its full dry-run and system testing phase to ensure that all digital functions would work smoothly before the commencement of public access.

“The ongoing system testing is essential to ensure a seamless, reliable and user-friendly platform for future passengers,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.

“This milestone reflects the commitment and hard work that the team has put in over the past months.”

Lee said the Sarawak government continued to closely monitor the airline’s readiness and remained fully supportive as AirBorneo progressed towards full operations.

He also commended the dedication of AirBorneo staff, noting that many had been working around the clock to meet the project timelines.

“The website’s go-live will be the public’s first engagement point with Sarawak’s own airline, and I am confident the team will deliver a platform that showcases professionalism and the spirit of service,” he added.

AirBorneo, formerly MASwings and now transitioning under Sarawak ownership, is in its final stages of preparation ahead of its inaugural operations, which aim to enhance rural air services and strengthen connectivity across Sarawak, Sabah and Labuan.

More updates are expected as the airline moves closer to its official launch.

In a statement issued by AirBorneo on Tuesday, all current MASWings tickets and bookings would remain valid, with no changes to flight times and dates.

However, passengers with existing MASWings tickets for travelling period on or after Jan 14 next year would receive individual communications regarding the re-issuance of their tickets under AirBorneo.

“Effective now, for the purchasing new tickets for travels on or before Jan 13, travellers are to continue purchasing MASWings tickets through current MASWings’ website www.maswings.com.my; for purchasing of new tickets for travels on or after Jan 14, travellers are to purchase flight tickets on AirBorneo’s website, www.airborneo.com.

“Alternatively, customers may also purchase tickets via AirBorneo’s call centre.

“The hotlines available for ticket purchases and inquiries are the toll-free number 1-300-22-1388 for local callers, or (+06)82-537 555 for international callers,” said AirBorneo in the statement.
