BINTULU (Feb 7): Tanjong Batu assemblyman Johnny Pang says he fully supports the Sarawak government’s intention to reclaim Bintulu Port from the federal government. He said Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is on the right track to reclaim the port so it could be fully regulated and further developed by the state government for Sarawak’s benefit. “All of us, Sarawakians, especially those from Bintulu should support the Premier’s efforts, especially for the progressive aspect of Sarawak’s development,” he said in his speech at the launch of a sports outlet at Jalan Tanjung Kidurong here on Sunday. Pang further emphasised that the Premier is fighting for the rights of Sarawak and is planning the development of the state as a whole. At the same time, he hopes that all Sarawakians will continue to give Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) their strong support so that the mission to fight for Sarawak’s rights can be achieved. “I believe reclaiming Bintulu Port is a proactive step by the Premier to fight for Sarawak’s rights,” he stressed. He said the request to get Bintulu Port back will bring significant change to the overall development of Sarawak, especially in terms of economic development in the state.
