BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 7 Feb: The Ministry of Transport Sarawak (MOTS) is participating in the BIMP-EAGA (Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area) Strategic Planning Meeting (SPM) in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam from 6th to 8th February 2023 . BIMP-EAGA is a sub-regional economic cooperation initiative aimed at promoting economic development in the cross-border region of the four Southeast Asian countries of Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines. Its objective is to enhance economic integration and cooperation among the participating countries in areas such as transport, trade, investment, tourism, and infrastructure development. Dato Ir. Alice Jawan Empaling, the Permanent Secretary for Ministry of Transport Sarawak leads the Transport Cluster for Malaysia. In the Transport Cluster, the four countries utilize the BIMP-EAGA platform to develop strategies for enhancing transportation links, which facilitates the movement of goods and people, and to tackle any challenges related to entry and exit procedures between the countries. MOTS is looking forward to a productive SPM and advancing the efforts in the BIMP-EAGA to enhance transportation connections and promote economic opportunities in BIMP-EAGA region, particularly in Sarawak. |
